Children that attend the nursery and pre-school may be non-verbal and most have a very limited scope of independent movement. For some, Bugzi has enabled them to experience independent movement for the first time.

Bugzi has proved a valuable therapeutic tool; either for children to have the experience of sensory movement, or, for children with more advanced skills, to move between toys within a play session.

At Chailey Heritage Clinical Services we have carried out research looking at how children learn the skills to progress from the concept of movement, to operating the machine, through to learning how to use the powered wheelchair as part of everyday life skills.

The introduction of Powered Mobility for young children is already well established at Chailey Heritage and Bugzi has the additional benefits for some children in that it is low to the ground and has a small shell enabling them to reach outside of the bug to play with toys.
